It offers a great feature for recording meetings for playback by others who couldn’t attend and is a great tool for feedback and development for the meeting organizer.

My experience with WebEx is that it's often better to upload your files for sharing as opposed to sharing your desktop as having been a participant, I find myself checking out the meeting leaders office screen, desktop photos, number of desktop icons, etc. in which some cases, you can see their mail box and sometimes if they have mail preview active, you can see the first couple lines of their mail messages. I like the feature which allows you to privately chat with other participants - this is a very useful option during meetings where you can communicate transitionally with others in the same meeting without interrupting the meeting.

A feature I'd recommend to other users is the productivity tools download which integrates WebEx directly into your MS Outlook calendar which allows you to add teh WebEx meeting feature directly from your Outlook meeting maker which exchanges automatically with the WebEx server and populates the WebEx link into your meeting request.

With regards to the VoIP/con call ability, I prefer to have a separate con-call due to the limitations noted by Shelly with VoIP.

One question for curiosity only - under your section labeled Tools and knowledge access....what is LMS support?

Nice work.Glennon.Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07835540240663389903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2238870936566985908.post-88622614814920741102011-03-19T06:48:16.660-04:002011-03-19T06:48:16.660-04:00Yes, WebEx is certainly a very good application fo...Yes, WebEx is certainly a very good application for visual Collaborative Learning Work. Some meetings or training sessions will use only VOIP (Voice over Internet) instead of, or in addition to, the telephone to enable people to speak to each other. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIPP, often referred to simply as Internet telephony), is used to provide free online phone service. (Skype is currently the best-known free VoIP service.) However, VoIP has some advantages and some disadvantages. A big advantage for participants who are joining a meeting or training session from home is that they don’t have to worry about long distance phone charges for participants. A disadvantage is that there is a limit to the number of “active mics” in a VoIP meeting, and also not everyone can talk at once. Therefore, VoIP is more often used for presentations and training sessions rather than for meetings.

A few suggestios:
o If your host indicates that VoIP is the only audio option for the meeting or training session you will attend, please plan for this by having a headset and mic.
o If you are using a built-in mic plus speakers you MUST remember to press the Ctrl key while you’re speaking (which mutes your speakers) or it will cause a distracting digital delay.
o If the host has set up a meeting to enable VoIP to be used, a VOIP “wizard” dialog box will appear that will enable you to set your audio settings. Once you finish the audio setup wizard, be sure that the checkbox indicating that your mike is muted is NOT checked. Some meetings may have participants call into a teleconference call via phone instead of (or in addition to) using VoIP.
Cheers!Shelly Goulethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01185188758536845729noreply@blogger.com
